Ice ice baby

I saw the ice crystals sparkle from a distance, as I made my way down to the water this morning. The only sound to break the silence was the crispiness beneath my feet. Ice and frost created patterns everywhere. All sharp, like thin glass.

Do more of what makes you happy!

Climbing releases endorphins that make me feel happy!

Climbing releases endorphins that make me feel happy.

Since I shared my story about mindful migraine some weeks ago, I´ve been contacted by quite a few people who struggle with different types of pain, and who seem to have one thing in common: Nothing helps. What to do about it?

I appreciate your trust and try to answer all the questions, but I will never give advice. That´s the Doctors job. I´m not qualified.

However, there´s this one thing I strongly believe in, and that I´m conscious about every single day: To do more of what makes me HaPpY!

To be mindful and aware about what brings on this oh-so-good-feeling and dwell by it – is the best lesson I´ve learned!

So:

*Do you like taking photos? Then do more of it! *Do you like talking to your best friend? Then do more of it! *Do you like cooking? Then do more of it! *Do you like hugging? Well, then do more of that too!

Making things maximizes my happiness.

”But I´m in constant pain” you might reply. ”I can´t do the things I used to enjoy. I feel miserable no matter what”. Then allow yourself to take some baby steps. Every little moment of joy counts!

Now you might add “I´d like to, but don´t have the time.” My response is “It´s about prioritizing. Cut the TV-crap. The power of making ourselves happier lies within.”

I believe this has a lot to do with awareness. And when in pain or depression, there´s a chance you forget what really makes your soul happy. Have a think about it.

How do I explain it? Well, it´s all science: When having happy experiences, the feel-good chemicals in the brain are released, and interact with the receptors that reduce the perception of pain. Read more here.

Obviously, there is not a one-size-fits-all. But to me, this understanding and body-mind technique has been a key to wind down emotions and pain driven by vicious cycles. I write more about such cycles in my article Mindful migraine – take a closer look.

*So – cherish every happy moment and magic can happen! *Ok, ok – I know, that totally sounds like a cliché… *But I´m telling you: It may work. I´m a living proof! *Now – go get a professional helping hand if you need it!

First snowfall

At this very moment, wet flakes are falling like confetti outside my window. Rain turned into snow. There´s now heavenly beauty on the ground, water and trees. I have been waiting for this:

Tiny Fountains

Silver sheets of rain are pouring down outside. My creative mind is easily mesmerized by the dancing droplets and tiny fountains, which I see:

Do you watch the raindrops?

BUT THEN JONATHAN SAID IT WAS SOMETHING HE MUST DO, EVEN IF IT WAS DANGEROUS. “WHY” I WONDERED. “OTHERWISE YOU´RE NOT A HUMAN BEING BUT JUST A PIECE OF DIRT” SAID JONATHAN.
